The premise is false- because of Prithvi Narayan I am Nepali, so I should respect him. The same premise means if Modi invades I will thank him because my education said so. A person's loyalty is driven by social, political, and economic context. Maoists idealize Prachanda not because he created a country called FDR Nepal but because they argue he gave them political rights. Some idealize the Malla era not because they called themselves Nepaleshwor but because it was a level of economic prosperity that is reflected in the art and architecture they left. Some would now like to say- that Prithvi Narayan Shah created a single social identity, but in reality, the person who strategized homogenization in Nepal was Hugh B. Wood, and was implemented during the PMship of KI Singh. The debate of Prithvi Narayan doesn't create a sense of a stronger Nepali identity is stupid because here the villains aren't foreigners but ancestors who resided in Nepal via all people who fought for their countries are villains, it saying if u fight for Nepal and Modi wins your grandchildren says you are villain while Modi is a hero. This isn't a shared value of all Nepalese but to accept that invaders are right and invaded are wrong- had Prachanda succeeded in winning the war those who fought from the Nepal Army would be seen as villains.

Statement- because of Prithvi Narayan- we are Nepali, this argument is not built on any nationalist argument, it's like saying because of Lendup Dorje Sikimmese say they are proud of India- and should thank him. Sikkimese live in a society where there is no choice not to be an Indian and therefore, they need to celebrate him based on a false premise. Education would brainwash the country's subjects to worship that particular country which doesn't serve their interest. The argument we can't judge people by our current standard is another false premise- that same argument can be given by Nazi Germany or by any defeated dictator. To be a Gujarati- they don't need a Prithvi Narayan Shah, to be a Scottish- they don't need an invader. It's a cultural construct and eventually, either cultural construct reshapes the national identity such as eradicating local cultures in forming a single French identity, or cultural identities overtake the country such as in the case of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. Some countries' unifying is seen as the natural state of order- such as German Unification and Vietnamese Unification. Some partitions are seen as natural states such as the split of Czechoslovakia and Sudan. The natural state is a condition where they share the same values and have a higher level of social cohesion that could allow a country to progress. The worst idea of defending any invader as a symbol of unity is absurd- it is like saying if Modi invades, he becomes a hero for Nepalese, as Nepal would not remain as Nepal but would be invaded by Chinese, regardless the statement is true or false. Shivaji Shahji Raje Bhosley remains a hero to some not because of his massive Maratha Empire but because he refused to treat women as spoils of war. The concept of idolization is the belief that action is right and should be repeated in the future. Prithvi Narayan can be studied as a Machiavellian strategist and should be idealized for his usage of psychological warfare. If a person think- if such psychological warfare has no place in modern society, then the concept of idealization is wrong. It should be remembered- heroes aren't just a story that is remembered for fun, these are stories from which inspirations are taken. Prithvi Narayan's treatment of his brothers was wrong- then that can't be a right ideal person, he did so that not his brothers but his eldest son benefit from his action as a result his younger son Bahadur Shah was exiled, and later died in torture- it's a lesson we should learn- what he sowed returns back to him. The study of history is a strategy to plan the future.
